Live-Streaming E-Commerce with the Queens of Color and Accelerate Rural NC
Livestream Selling Helps Startup Gain Traction
Colleen Jones is the owner of the Queens of Color Cosmetics in Greenville. Colleen is an accomplished makeup artist and has been serving the community with both a salon and a website for several years. Colleen signed up for the first cohort of Accelerate Rural because she wanted to learn how to grow her business online because of Covid-19 creating a slowdown in business at her salon.
Colleen was able to redesign her website with the help of ARNC interns Marco Agostini and Brady Hillhouse which boosted sales almost immediately! Marco was able to use her existing Shopify site and add a new theme and graphics to improve the customer’s experience of the site.
Michael Brooks, an executive with CommentSold then introduced our group to the idea of using Facebook Live to sell products directly to customers while streaming live. This is new in the US but has been very successful in China with sales reaching in the billions this fall on TMall.com and Alibaba.com
Colleen decided to give livestream selling a try. She has offered live sales 4 or 5 times since October to her audience. The results have been strong with sales increasing big over regular website sales. Tune in on Facebook this Thursday the 7th at 3pm eastern at QueensofColorCosmetics for a live-streaming session with e-commerce available.
Accelerate Rural NC believes that live-streaming commerce is a great way for small businesses to grow their customer base quickly and at an affordable cost. Reach out to me at dtracz@acceleraterural.org for more info.
